Allusion English literature terms definition.

What is Allusion?

Answer: A short mention of a famous historical or literary person or event the use allusions is not confined to literature alone.In the most traditional sense, allusion is a literary term, though the word has also come to encompass indirect references to any source, including allusions in film or the visual arts.

Some allusion Example

1. " Stop acting like my ex-husband please"- Apart From scholarly allusions we refer to common people and places in our speech.

2. " This place is like a garden of eden " - This is The Billical allusion to the ' Garden of god ' In the book of genesis.

3. "Hey! Guess who the new newton of our school is?- " Newton", Means a genius student , Alludes to a famous scientist isaac newton.

4. The rise is poverty will unlock the oandoras box of crimes. - This is  an allusion to one of greek Mythologys origin myth, Pandoras box.
